From Japan to France to the start of the Clio Cup Middle East in Dubai, Clio enjoyed another action-packed weekend of success !
FIA World Rally Championship
Clio Rally3 scored another podium result in the World Rally Championship with Ghjuvanni Rossi and Kylian Sarmezan at the season finale in Japan. On the special stages of the Aichi prefecture, the Chazel Technologie Course crew took eight fastest times in a battle with the category reigning champion before settling for second place in WRC3 after overcoming an alternator issue on Saturday. With three podium finishes this year, the crew finished fourth in the championship, level on points with Romet Jürgenson, who finished third and won the Junior WRC title.
Clio Cup Middle East
Season three of the Clio Cup Middle East began at the Dubai Autodrome. Coming from karting, Harry Hannam (EBCX Motorsport) created quite an impression with a brace of victories. First, he beat Alex Renner (ARMotors) and Stanislas Novikov (Continental Racing) before repeating the feat a few hours later ahead of Alex Renner and Fulvio Ferri (Progetto E20). The Briton has a 14-point lead over Gentlemen’s category leader, Alex Renner, and also leads the Challengers class with a 20-point advantage over Logan Hannah (Pole Position) and Sam Laidlaw (ARMotors).
French Rally Championship
Making their sixth and final appearance of the season in the official Castrol Clio Rally3, Benjamin and Florence Stirling made it five triumphs on the bounce at the Rallye du Var. The pair dominated their class throughout the French Rally Championship season finale to make it an all-Clio Rally3 podium while regularly mixing it up with the 30 Rally2 entries, including an 11th-fastest time on SS11.
Meanwhile, Clio Rally4 excelled in the hands of Jean-Pierre Flori and Enzo Mahinc. The crew avoided the hazards of the course and gradually climbed up the order to finish third Rally4 and win the Michelin Amateurs Trophy. The model also made its mark with Eliott Delecour, co-driven by Romain Roche, setting the best time on Roquebrune-sur-Argens 2 in his Clio Rally4 debut. Lastly, Lucas Zielinski and Ewen Leenhardt led the way among the 18 Clio Rally5s entered.
French Rally Cup
Elsewhere in France, Clio Rally3 finished in the overall top five on the Rallye de l’ASA Nancy with Rally3 winners Nicolas Miclo and Brice Pierrat, while Clio Rally5 won on the same special stages with Didier and Théo Labarge. Meanwhile, Clio Rally5 also won its class on the Rallye des Noix de Firminy with Geoffrey Cortial and Rachel Feld and on the Rallye Cœur des Vignobles with Damien Vaissière and Sébastien Romero.
