An overall win and podiums for Clio Rally3, a national title in the Czech Republic for Clio Rally5 and the final sprints intensifying in several trophies, here’s a look back at another successful weekend for the fifth generation of Renault Clio in competition !

Clio Trophy Galicia

Álvaro Castro won the penultimate round of the Clio Trophy Galicia. The Spaniard and co-driver Isidro Rey won six of the nine stages on the Rallye Ourense Ribeira Sacra to claim a third consecutive victory with an 18.6s margin over the duo of Gabriel Rodríguez Gándara and David Fernández. Marcos Rodríguez Sanromán and Álvaro Cerqueiras completed the podium. On the strength of his success, Álvaro Castro will head to the season finale at Rally San Froilán (18-19 October) with an 18-point lead over Gabriel Rodríguez Gándara.

French Junior Rallycross Championship

Championship leader Valentin Lumet moved closer to the title in Mayenne. Faced with the onslaught of his rivals, the Loire-Atlantique driver kept a cool head to score his sixth win of 2024 with Clio RX. His team-mate and closest rival, Kelig Gouesbet, recovered well to take second place after a mistake in the semi-final. Gautier Sarhy completed the podium ahead of Bryan Dufas and Ilona Bertapelle. The title race could conclude as early as the next round at Essay (5-6 October).

Czech Republic Rally Championship

The Czech Republic Rally Championship drew to a close with the sixth and final round of its calendar at the Invelt Rally Pačejov. On the tarmac roads of Horažďovice, Clio Rally5 excelled again, with Martin and František Končal winning the RC5. Tomáš Štuksa and Ondřej Novák finished second to secure the national title in the same class while finishing runners-up in the Junior category.

Dutch Rally Championship

Renault was the most represented brand on the Hellendoorn Rally, the fifth round of the Dutch Rally Championship and the venue for the Clio Rally Trophy final, with 17 crews at the start line. Ben van de Laar and Marlon Krieger finished tenth overall in their Clio Rally3 to take the crown in their class, as did Nard Ippen and Mark Bierbooms in Rally5. Clio Rally4 also impressed with RC4 and Rally4 victories on the national scene for Maurice Kuijstermans and Kirsten Rothman.

Romanian Rally Championship

Round eight of the Romanian Rally Championship, the TESS Rally Brașov saw Eliott Delecour win several classes and categories with Clio Rally5 : RC5, Juniors, Newcomers and FWD. Tenth overall with co-driver Priscille Delecour, the French driver also won in the trophy dedicated to Clio Rally5. This victory enables him to consolidate his lead ahead of the season finale at Raliul Vâlcei (19-20 October), where he will also be in contention for several national titles.

French Rally Cup

Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 all won at the Ronde de la Durance with Bernard Taffin - Mylène Arnaud, Claude Benedetto - Thierry Guichard and Georges Stoppa - Sonny Postel.

Meanwhile, Clio Rally3 secured an overall podium result with third place for Thomas Battaglia and Marc Della-Pina on the Rallye du Suran, where Clio Rally5 won its class with Philippe and Tom Gonzalez. Clio Rally3 achieved a similar double on the Rallye des Camisards with Warren Tribouillois - Benjamin Durand and Sylvain Rouquette - Marjorie Mercier.

Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 also set the pace on the Rallye d’Envermeu with Dorian Deslandes - Léa Pustelnik and Vincent Robert - Florine Mangard, as well as on the Rallye de la Vie with Thomas Chauffray - Alex Gandrieau and Willy Mathey - Nelly Guillé. Finally, Clio Rally5 won its class on the Rallye du Chasselas with Julien Séré and Marc Chapelle.

And elsewhere…

Clio Rally3 continued to impress on the German tarmac stages, with Hermann Gaßner Jr. and Ursula Mayrhofer winning the ADAC Emmersdorfer Rallyesprint. The model also demonstrated its impressive potential on other surfaces, with Ioannis Bozionelos and Evangelos Panaritis finishing second overall in the latest round of the Greek Gravel Rally Cup, Rally Sprint Kalamatas.

Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 won on the Canary Islands with Fernando Cruz Ramos - Juan Ricardo Luis Bautista and Jesús Pérez Rodríguez - Aythami Díaz González on Rally La Palma Isla Bonita. Leonardo Scalco - Mattia Toffano and Alex Lorenzato - Stefano Beltramello on Rally Città di Bassano (Italy) produced a similar double win.

Clio Rally4 was not to be outdone either, with a P2-4 victory for Emanuel Garcia and Nélson Dinis on the Rali Além Mar - 45º Ilha Lilás (Portugal). Lastly, Clio Rally5 won its class on the Tindari Rally (Italy), with Marco Cannino and Giuseppe Longo, Matteo Solis and Serena Terrile on the Rally delle Palme (Italy) and Tim Wacker and Luca Kiefer on the ADAC Rallye Kohle & Stahl (Germany).

Coming up

This week’s Rally Chile Bio Bío will see Ghjuvanni Rossi’s Clio Rally3 and Ignacio Gardiol’s Clio Rally4 line up at the start of round 11 of the FIA World Rally Championship. Meanwhile, three Clio Rally4s, 14 Clio Rally5s and three Clio Rally3s, including that of Mattéo Chatillon, will be in action in the French Rally Championship on the Rallye Cœur de France. Meanwhile, the race for the Clio Trophy Belgium title could come to a head on the East Belgian Rally and the Clio Trophy Canarias on the Rallye Villa de Teror.
