Nearly 100 Clios were in action last weekend, with some strong results in Ecuador and the Netherlands, not to mention further victories in France, Italy, Portugal and Turkey !

Ecuador Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 debuted superbly in Ecuador, winning the RC3 class and finishing third overall on the Rally F.F.F. with Alejandro Martínez Feijoo and Andres Felipe Carpio Bravo. Third in the Clio Trophy Ecuador in 2022, the crew underlined their strong performance by finishing in the top five overall on every stage, only to be edged out by two Rally2 finishers. The opening round of the national championship also saw Ricardo Martínez Feijoo and Ronald Ochoa in their Clio Rally4 finish in the overall top ten while Clio Rally5 also impressed with a sweep of the top four in its category led by John Paul Gonzalez Orellana and Luis Felipe Valverde Larrea.

Dutch Rally Championship

Featuring Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4, and Clio Rally5, the Clio Rally Trophy in the Netherlands opened its new season on the Zuiderzee Rally, the opening round of the national championship. Ceriel Klein Kromhof and Marcel Hanstede won the trophy whilst finishing fourth overall. The crews of Ben van de Laar - Marlon Krieger and Jeroen Klein Kromhof - Jouri Dockx made it three Clio Rally3s in the overall top six of the rally. Meanwhile, Maurice Kuijstermans and Kirsten Rothman led Clio Rally4 to victory in RC4, while Johan Deen and Harmen Scholtalbers led a Clio Rally5 lockout of the top seven in RC5.

Turkish Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 also starred in Turkey, with four cars entered in the Marmaris Ege Rallisi. On the tarmac roads of Marmaris, Burcu Çetinkaya and Fabrizia Pons won the Women’s category. At the same time, the duo of Eda Soylu and Yusuf Çalik completed the model’s one-two finish in this category. All four crews finished the rally, underlining Clio Rally3s excellent reliability.

French Rally Cup

In France, Clio Rally4 monopolised the Rallye Val de Boutonne podium, led by Thierry Landais and Morgan Lefebvre, whilst Maxime Maingraud and Émilie Perrinaud led a Clio Rally5 quadruple.

In parallel, Clio Rally5 snapped up the top six places on the Rallye du Vallon de Marcillac led by Damien Vaissière and Sébastien Romero, the top eight led by Alexis Delorme and Angeline Ravier on the Rallye des Vignes de Régnié and a one-two led by Chris Langé and Albane Lefranc-Laplanche on the Rallye du Pays de Caux. The model also won its category with Guillaume Lambert and Benjamin Trebuchon on the Rallye des Vins du Gard.

On Reunion Island, Clio Rally3 and Clio Rally5 won the Rallye de Saint-Leu, with Dominique Hoarau - William Jourlin and Samuel Hoarau -Stéphane Duverger, respectively. Olivier Hoarau and Fabrice Canian also secured a class podium for Clio Rally4 in the same event.

And elsewhere…

Clio Rally5 won in Portugal with a P2-4 victory for Henrique Azenha and Hugo Marques at Termas Motorfest - Rali Cidade Termal. Clio Rally5 also dominated in Italy on several of the rallies counting towards the new Clio Trophy Italia format, with Alessandro Ferro and Paolo Clerico beating 16 other Clio Rally5s on Rally Vigneti Monferrini. Igor Iani and Davide Cecchetto led a sweep of the top eight on the Camunia Rally. Francesco Dei Ceci - Nicolò Lazzarini and Michael Rendina - Massimo Moriconi made it a one-two finish in Rally5 and the Junior category at the Rally del Lazio.

Coming up

The Clio Cup Series returns this week with the 2024 opening round at the Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro. Forty-two drivers will be on hand to dethrone David Pouget, who will defend his 2023 super-winner title. The meeting will also mark the start of Clio Cup France and Clio Cup España for this field, comprising seven nationalities and 13 different teams.
