While more Clio Cup titles were awarded, Clio Rally3 excelled on the special stages with a maiden WRC podium and an excellent showing in the French Rally Championship, not to mention the success of Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 and new rounds in Clio Trophy Canarias and Clio Trophy Italia.

Clio Cup Series

David Pouget (GPA Racing) and Gabriele Torelli (Rangoni Corse) shared the victories at the Autodromo di Imola to keep their duel going for the Clio Cup Europe title. The meeting also hosted the Clio Cup Italia season finale, with Luca Franca and his MC Motortecnica team taking the crown before their countryman Mattia Lancellotti (Faro Racing) won the Challengers Cup. Spain’s Adrian Schimpf (AST Competition) was also crowned in the Clio Cup Europe’s Challengers Cup ahead of the final round of the season, combining the Clio Cup Series, Clio Cup Europe, Clio Cup España and Clio Cup France on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (10-12 November).

FIA World Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 showed its potential on the inaugural Central European Rally by claiming its first three fastest times at the highest level. Germany’s Carsten Mohe and Alexander Hirsch led the car to its first WRC RC3 podium finish. Clio Rally5 went on to win all the tricky tarmac stages of this first-ever event in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, taking its 20th victory in the RC5 category thanks to a 1-2 finish led by Václav Stejskal Sr and Zdeněk Omelka.

French Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 impressed in France with another category win and the best result of its burgeoning career in the FFSA French Tarmac Rally Championship, with Jérémie Serieys and Stéphane Crespin finishing seventh overall at the Critérium des Cévennes. Meanwhile, Clio Rally4 scored a double top-five finish in Rally4, while Tom and Frédéric Vauclare led a sweep of the top five for Clio Rally5 in its class.

Clio Trophy Canarias

The penultimate round of the Clio Trophy Canarias saw Héctor Mederos take his second victory of the year on the Rally de Maspalomas. Co-driven by Miguel Reverón, the Tenerife-born driver won ahead of Noé Armas and Alejandro Falcón. The duo of Manuel Hernández and David Bethencourt completed the podium. With the win, Héctor Mederos consolidates his position as leader of the general classification and heads to the final round at the Rally Isla de Tenerife (17-18 November) with a nine-point lead over Noé Armas and a 21-point advantage over Manuel Hernández.

Clio Rally3 won the RC3 and the Michelin Alps Open Trophy in Switzerland with Ismaël Vuistiner and Florine Kummer on the Rallye International du Valais. Also competing in Clio Rally3, Thomas Battaglia and Marc Della-Pina finished on the podium in ERT Junior on the same Alpine roads, whilst Clio Rally5 locked out the top seven, led by Mathieu and Vincent Sermier in RC5.

There was also success in the French Rally Cup, with a triple victory on the Rallye de Sarrians for Clio Rally3 with Bernard Taffin - Christopher Fortunato, Clio Rally4 with Claude and Patricia Benedetto and Clio Rally5 with Guillaume Galy - Benjamin Gary. Also in France, Nicolas Miclo and Olivier Peter won the Rallye Sud Haute-Marne - Haute-Amance with Clio Rally4. Clio Rally5 also won with Maxime Fourmaux and Emma Pierrine on the Rallye de la Noix de Grenoble, Robin and Laurent Mercier on the Rallye du Pays du Lin and Jean-Christophe Olivar and Marine Olivia Bellon on the Rallye de Saint-Joseph.

Elsewhere in Europe, 15-year-old Argentinian Santino Rossi claimed his first victory with Clio Rally5 and co-driver Ariday Bonilla by winning his class on the Rally Ciudad de Granada, a week after his European debut in the Clio Trophy Spain Tierra. In Italy, Edoardo De Antoni regained control of Clio Trophy Italia by winning with Jessica Rosa and Clio Rally5 on Rally Lazio Cassino. Meanwhile, Constantin Tudose and Rareș Fetean denied Sebastian Scîrlet and Sebastian Itu a clean sheet in the Clio Rally5 challenge within the Romanian Rally Championship on TESS Rally Brașov.

Meanwhile, Tuncer and Asena Sancakli led Clio Rally5 to victory in the 100 Yil Rallisi, while Clio Rally3 made a promising debut in Turkey with Burcu Çetinkaya and Murat Yilmaz. Lastly, Javier Arce and Mario Acosta also won with Clio Rally5 in their category on Rally Caminos del Inca (Peru).

Coming up

This weekend, Clio Trophy Spain Asfalto will conclude its season on the Rallye La Nucía (4-5 November), with four of the eight competing crews with a chance of taking the title in a season which has already seen three drivers win in the four rallies run so far this year.
