A new leader in Clio Trophy Belgium and further success for Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 over a busy weekend on the French and European stages !

Clio Trophy Belgium

Round three of the Clio Trophy Belgium featured a new route for all the competitors on the inaugural Rally of Bertrix. Leading from start to finish, Lander Depotter and co-driver Jasper Maelfait won to take the lead in the general classification from Pierre-Manuel Brasseur. Brasseur had to make do with fourth place behind Dutchmen Nard Ippen - Stephan van de Peppel and the Belgian duo of Aaron Duville - Stijn De Vleeschauwer. Buoyed by his success, Lander Depotter also won in the Junior BRC, still led by the Clio Rally4 of Jonas Dewilde, while finishing just off the podium in the Belgian Cup. In Clio Trophy Belgium, the new leader has a ten-point advantage over Pierre-Manuel Brasseur ahead of the next round on Rallye Aarova (19 August).

Tenth in Clio Rally4, Steve Fernandes and Olivier Beck finished runner-up in round four of the Luxembourg Rally Championship while dominating the two-wheel drive class.

Clio Rally5 scored more victories in the French Rally Cup with Grégory Majoux - Maxime Svitex on the Rallye Haute Vallée de la Loire and Romain Toesca - Martin Derambure, who led a sweep of the top five for the model on the Rallye Nice Jean Behra.

Meanwhile, Tim Wacker and Luca Kiefer led Clio Rally5 to victory in the RC5 category on the ADAC Mittelrhein Rally, part of the German Rally Championship (DRM). Aleksandar Tomov and Yavor Brankov were victorious in the RC5 category on Rally Tvarditsa and finished sixth overall in round one of the Bulgarian Rally Championship.

In Spain, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 won their respective classes on the Rally de La Cerámica with Nicolás Cabanes - Javi Moltó and Rafael Gil Sánchez - Juan Carlos Gil Sánchez. Clio Rally4 also won in the front-wheel drive class in round three of the Turkish Championship with Buğra Can Kiliç and Yusuf Çalik at the ESOK Rally, where Tuncer and Asena Sancakli triumphed in RC5.

In Italy, Andrea Saredi and Alex Colombo won the Rally Valli Ossolane with their Clio Rally5 in a Rally5 category in which all eleven Renaults finished. The crew of Gabriele Piffero and Matteo Sanfilippo finished third in the under-25 class, beaten only by competitors with cars in the faster categories. Meanwhile, Andrea De Gregorio and Samuele Di Pino also won with Clio Rally5 on the Rally dei Nebrodi, as did Ennio Bini and Walter Terribile on the Rally della Lanterna / Val d’Aveto.

Lastly, Clio Rally3 debuted in Belgium in the hands of Pierre Davroux and Bertrand Daghelet. The crew finished second among the Rally3s on the asphalt of Rally van Wervik.

Coming up

The Clio Cup Series resumes this week for the fifth meeting of its calendar at the Hungaroring (16-18 June). A field of more than 25 competitors will battle in round three of Clio Cup Europe and Clio Cup Mid-Europe. In rallying, the Italian Junior Rally Championship will be in action at the San Marino Rally (16-17 June) for round two of its campaign, with a field composed entirely of Clio Rally5s.
