Last weekend, the Clio Cup crowned its first five 2022 champions while the Clio Trophy France Terre and Italian Junior Rally Championship crowned their title-winners !

Clio Cup Series

Round 12 of 2022 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza saw Felice Jelmini and David Pouget share the spoils. The Italian won on Saturday in dry conditions, the Frenchman on Sunday in the wet. The event was notable for the attribution of the first titles this year. The inaugural Clio Cup Eastern Europe season ended with the crowns going to Frenchman Marc Guillot and Milan Compétition. Finland’s Juuso Panttila wrapped up the Challengers Cup, as did The Netherlands’ Rene Steenmetz in the Gentlemen Drivers Cup. Poland’s Jerzy Spinkiewicz secured the Clio Cup Europe Challengers Cup title with two rounds remaining while Italy’s Quinto Stefana did the same in the Gentlemen Drivers Cup in Clio Cup Italia. Elsewhere, the suspense continues ahead of the next meeting this week at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Clio Trophy France Terre

While Florian Condamines excelled on home soil, becoming the only repeat winner this year in the Clio Trophy France Terre, the Rallye Terre des Cardabelles crowned Florian Bouchonneau. As the top Junior in the standings, the latter will be offered an official programme in 2023 with Renault, managed by Fun Meca Sport, which once again claimed the Teams’ title. On the roads that crowned his successor, Quentin Ribaud scored the first victory of his campaign with Clio Rally4. This result saw him finish just outside the top ten between two Rally2s and move up to second place in the French 2WD Gravel Rally Championship ahead of the season-finale on Rallye Terre de Vaucluse (11-13 November).

Italian Junior Rally Championship

The 40th Rally Due Valli allowed Alessandro Casella and his co-driver Rosario Siragusano to win the Clio Rally5-spec CIAR Junior title. The Sicilian won an intense battle, which was not decided until the final timed sector by 7.3 seconds over Mattia Zanin and Fabio Pizzol, whose runner-up result deprived Davide Nicelli and Tiziano Pieri of the title by only 4.6 seconds. Andrea Mabellini and Virginia Lenzi, who had already clinched the Italian two-wheel-drive championship, were less fortunate and were forced to retire from the lead after the first three timed sectors.
