After Quentin Ribaud in 2021 and Jean-Sébastien Vigion in 2023, Tom Pellerey last weekend became the third different driver in four years to win the French Two-Wheel Drive Gravel Rally Championship with Clio Rally5. This new crown adds to the ever-growing list of titles the fifth-generation Renault Clio has won.

Since its debut at Rally Guanajuato Mexico in March 2020, Clio Rally5 has continued to leave its mark and demonstrate its incredible potential. In its first campaign in France, Clio Rally5 finished runner-up in the French Two-Wheel Drive Gravel Rally Championship with Florian Bernardi. A year later, Quentin Ribaud claimed the title, the first for Renault on the national scene since Simon Jean-Joseph’s Clio S1600 in 2003. The inaugural Clio Trophy France Terre winner was followed by Jean-Sébastien Vigion, who also won the competition dedicated to Clio Rally5 in 2023.

Like Quentin Ribaud and Jean-Sébastien Vigion, Tom Pellerey took advantage of the automatic entry for the French Two-Wheel Drive Gravel Rally Championship included in his Clio Trophy France Terre entry. Winner in Rally5 in the Causses and Lozère, the native of Orange also took second place in his class at Castine and Aléria. Co-driven by Hervé Faucher, the Frenchman entered the season finale in third place in the standings.

On home soil, the CHL Sport Auto driver demonstrated all his talent behind the wheel of Clio Rally5 and ran the table in Rally5 to win by more than five minutes. He also turned heads by dominating the two-wheel drive division with seven fastest times from nine stages, to win by nearly two and a half minutes from a trio of Rally4s from the superior category.

Thanks to this third success of the season and the dropping of his DNF at Cardabelles, Tom Pellerey is the French Two-Wheel Drive Gravel Rally Champion. As the top Junior in the Clio Trophy France Terre, he will soon begin his preparation for his official programme in 2025. His tarmac counterpart, Arthur Pelamorugues, also impressed in the Vaucluse region, setting the pace in Rally3 on his privateer debut with Clio Rally3.

This new title in France follows on from those recently won in Denmark, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Turkey, not to mention the many countries where Clio Rally5 crews are still in contention as the season winds down. Clio Rally5 is, more than ever, the ideal car for climbing the rally ladder !

Tom Pellerey : "We’re thrilled to have won this title, which is the reward for an exceptional year in which we made no mistakes. We demonstrated consistency and performance even though we had never driven on most of the rallies before. It was particularly gratifying to fight for victory in every round despite our lack of experience. This success also crowns the efforts of the CHL Sport Auto team, which has always provided us with a Clio Rally5 that is competitive, efficient and fun to drive. The Rallye Terre de Vaucluse is my home round, the only one that I have already done twice, as I have done it every year since I started rallying three years ago. It’s always a pleasure to drive in front of our partners and the fans we know, but we also had to learn new stages. The weekend was extremely positive : we won by two-and-a-half minutes and were 17th overall among the Rally2 and Rally3 crews at the end of the first day. It’s fantastic to end the season on such a high and to thank our partners Yacco, GT2i, Dufour Plâtrerie, Alu Vaison and Domaine de Lucéna in this way. It’s been an incredible year. Apart from a small issue at the Cardabelles, which deprived us of the overall Clio Trophy France Terre title, everything went wonderfully well. It bodes well for the future, and I’m already looking forward to representing Renault at the highest level !"
