Changes in continuity for 2022
Building on their success with larger service parks than ever before, the Clio Rally5 trophies will continue to offer a superb showcase and new challenges for competitors on the most challenging tarmac and gravel events in 2022.
Considered the benchmark entry-level category, the Clio Trophy France Asphalte enjoys a privileged position in the French rallying landscape with the largest field on the national scene. Introduced this year, the Clio Trophy France Terre is equally successful with specialists and drivers keen to discover this surface behind the wheel of the high-performance, reliable and cost-effective car designed by the Dieppe and Viry-Châtillon teams.
The Clio Trophy France Asphalte and Clio Trophy France Terre will remain independent in 2022, with complimentary calendars allowing crews to enter both competitions if they wish. There will be some adjustments as each trophy will now be contested over five French Rally Championship events. In both cases, only the four best performances will count at the end of the season. The 2022 season will also see the introduction of the Gentlemen classification and the Power Stage in Clio Trophy France Terre, as is already the case for the tarmac trophy.
Meanwhile, Alpine Racing will continue to offer unrivalled technical support and a unique level of sporting fairness at this level of competition, not forgetting the provision of a parts truck and an service park kit at each round. The prize package and bonus scheme will remain attractive to all the contenders in the various categories : General, Juniors, Gentlemen, Teams and Challenge Réseau Renault.
Clio Trophy France Asphalte and Clio Trophy France Terre will also continue their efforts to democratize motorsport while emphasizing the idea of an academy through incentives for the best young hopefuls. Like Anthony Fotia this year and Romain Di Fante next year, the best Junior in the Clio Trophy France Asphalte 2022 will receive an official programme with Clio Rally4 in 2023, managed by the structure that will win the team classification. At the same time, its gravel counterpart will also have the opportunity to contest two events on this surface the following year !
In addition to France, Clio Rally5 will continue to have its own trophies in several European countries. For more information on the 2022 Clio Trophy France Asphalte and Clio Trophy France Terre seasons, please click here.
Benoit Nogier, Alpine Racing Commercial Racing Director : "We are delighted to continue both the Clio Trophy France Asphalte and Clio Trophy France Terre in 2022. The success of these two competitions combined with the exceptional success of Clio Rally5, which currently leads the French two-wheel-drive Tarmac and Gravel Championships with competitors from our trophies, highlights the excellent level and great learning platform they are. The feedback is consistently enthusiastic and unanimous on all surfaces. However, we are far from resting on our laurels and we keep listening to our customers and anticipating their needs, hence some small touches brought to consolidate our current formula and combine the best aspects of each trophy. After the tremendous rallying success of Clio’s 30th anniversary in competition, we are confident that an even better year awaits us in 2022 !"
