A Parade through the heart of the City of Lights
This year, Renault and the Paris Motor Show celebrate their 120th anniversary. Renault Classic and Renault Sport took part in the celebrations at an emotional and exceptional event : a magnificent parade through the city, across several historic Renault sites and a host of Parisian landmarks.
Following a public exhibition of classic vehicles covering more than a century of automotive history on the Place de la Concorde, the grand parade started on Sunday, 30 September at 1pm in front of nearly a thousand people.
Renault was involved in the parade, driving through some of the capital’s most beautiful streets, including those connecting the Grand Palais, Place des Invalides, Quai Branly, Pont d’Iéna and the world famous Champs-Elysées.
Various former – and current – Renault sites were also included on the route, the former Mur de l’Artillerie and Île Seguin plants, as well as company headquarters at Quai Le Gallo and L’Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées.
Amidst the celebratory mood, a number of sports cars appeared alongside the classic models, bearing witness to the great racing era of Renault.
From the Type A voiturette used competitively by Louis Renault to promote his production models to the Renault Spider, and including the likes of the R5 Turbo, the record-breaking Étoile Filante (Shooting Star) and the R8 Gordini, several generations of sports cars gathered to take part in this fun event, as hundreds of casual onlookers rubbed shoulders with hardcore enthusiasts in the heart of the French capital.
