The Clio Trophy France Asphalte crews head for the Critérium des Cévennes for the fifth and final round of the 2024 season. Arthur Pelamourgues will have the chance to seal his title in a rally making its return to the calendar while several places of honour are still up for grabs. Among them will be a thrilling four-team battle to determine who will run Arthur Pelamourgues’ official program in 2025 !

With two victories and three podium finishes from four rallies, Arthur Pelamourgues has mathematically clinched the title and only needs to start the opening special stage on Friday morning to officially succeed Anthony Fotia, Romain Di-Fante, Thomas Chauffray and Benjamin Stirling. While the Frenchman could manage his pace to savour his triumph, he will have plenty of reasons to maintain the same frenetic rhythm in this final round !

Also top Junior, Arthur Pelamourgues will aim to lead Fun Meca Sport to glory in the teams standings to continue the adventure with the Charente-Maritime-based outfit in 2025. Ahead of their trip to Le Vigan, Jérémy Brissiaud’s squad hold a six-point lead over David Automobiles with PH Sport five points further back, with over a hundred points still to be awarded. In addition to their leader, Fun Meca Sport will be counting on Néo Rivallant and Romain Fostier, the most experienced driver in the Clio Trophy France Asphalte history. Opposite them, David Automobiles’ hopes will rest on Samuel Lay, Tom Vauclare and Jérôme Janny, all of whom are in the top ten overall. Currently in third place, Lucas Zielinski will lead PH Sport’s efforts alongside Willy Mathey. Last but not least, defending champions Sébastien Loeb Racing are also still in contention with Yoan Corberand.

Arthur Pelamourgues can also aim for a fourth title, as he has a seven-point advantage over Lucas Zielinski and a nine-point lead over Yoan Corberand in the contest for the Jean Ragnotti Power Stage Trophy. The 46.4 km long SS12 between Val d’Aigoual and Sumène on Saturday will be a marathon for the three protagonists as they battle to score the maximum of ten bonus points. In addition to all these battles, there will be the battle for top places and the Renault Network Challenge, where David Automobiles, Groupe Bertrand and Garage Gilbert are all in contention. Among the front-runners, however, Julien Deslauriers, already victorious in Rouergue this year, and Enzo Beschet and Thomas Santiago, two drivers who have shown significant progress, should not be overlooked. Elsewhere in the service park, Juniors Benjamin Rico and Teddy Turco will try to end their campaigns on a high, as will Nicolas Vanderweerde, Baptiste Voillaume and Kevin Cichosz.

First place in the Gentlemen’s category will be another great battle. Whereas Willy Mathey won at Le Touquet and Pascal Bérard at the three following events, Franck Giraud will enter the final round with a four-point lead at the top of the class. The three men will battle for victory in what promises to be a particularly intense affair, as Jacques Bourrat is also still in with a shout of claiming this honorary title.

Several competitors will make their first appearance of the year and be ineligible for points. Among them will be Michel Rico, Raphaël Monnier and Laurent Lambert, three drivers whose experience will be invaluable as they make their Clio Rally5 debut. Yohan Roumieux will also be discovering the model in competition, unlike Spain’s Juan Manuel Mañá, who has come to rub shoulders with the French field after impressing in Clio Trophy Spain. Hot on the heels of his first Clio Trophy France Terre podium, Christophe Truchet will test his mettle on tarmac. At the same time, Sabine Frontier will use her knowledge of Cévennes roads to take on Charlotte Olea, who will finish as the season’s top female.

Held on Friday and Saturday, the 65th Critérium des Cévennes will comprise 13 special stages totalling 196.6 timed kilometres on a total route of 539.15 km. The event will see Benjamin and Florence Stirling conclude their program with the official Clio Rally3 in the Castrol colours, a loyal partner of Renault’s competition-racing activities. The duo will target a fourth consecutive win and a fifth podium in as many starts in their class. Three other Clio Rally3s, including that of Thomas Chauffray - his predecessor in the Clio Trophy France Asphalte - will also be in action, not forgetting Dominique Chibaudel’s Clio Rally4 and five non-trophy Clio Rally5s.
