Six rounds and tripled prize money for the Clio R3T France Trophy
Renault Sport Technologies today unveiled details of its plans for next season’s Clio R3T France Trophy. Following its first season in 2015, Clio R3T – fitted with Michelin tyres – will once again be used to compete in a national trophy in France, along with three other versions of the trophy : ALPS, Italy and Iberia. The calendars and prizes awarded have been reviewed in order to meet the expectations of the drivers and teams.
Clio R3T trophies, after a first season with the Clio R3T European Trophy, are set to change dimension in 2016. In order to get closer to the needs of its customers, Renault is setting up the Clio R3T France Trophy for the 2016 season and, with support from promotors, the Clio R3T ALPS Trophy, Clio R3T Italy Trophy and Clio R3T Iberia Trophy. The winners of these trophies will be rewarded with a works entry in the 2017 Rallye Monte Carlo in a Renault Clio R3T.
Through the Clio R3T Trophy, Renault Sport Technologies aims to reassert its commitment to the brand’s core values of technical and sporting fairness. The drivers and teams will also benefit from first-class technical support and will be able to call upon the services of the spare parts department, all in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Six rounds of the French Rally Championship
The Clio R3T France Trophy will be contested at six rounds of the French Rally Championship : Lyon-Charbonnières, Antibes, Limousin, Rouergue, Mont-Blanc and Cévennes. Only five results will count towards the final standings. At each event, the top drivers will be rewarded with points for the final standings and Performer points on the stages, like in 2015. The top performer (with the most points) at the end of the season will win a Best Performer “Jean Ragnotti” prize.
Tripled prize money
In 2016, the total prize money awarded will be tripled compared with last year. The winner of each round will therefore earn a prize of €7,000, and the top-ten finishers will receive prize money. A prize of €1,000 will also be awarded at each of the six rallies to the top Junior (drivers under 28 years old) and the highest-ranked female driver. Lastly, all the drivers will be awarded prizes in the form of Michelin tyres at the start of each event. At the end of the season, in addition to the winner taking part in the 2017 Rallye Monte Carlo, the runner-up will also be rewarded, as will the top Junior.
