Relive the 2014 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season
Following a two-year apprenticeship, Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) has fulfilled high expectations by winning the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 title.
The Dutchman, who is on the McLaren Young Driver Development Programme, enjoyed a superb year, also winning the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS championship.
Dennis Olsen (Prema Powerteam) and Alexander Albon (KTR) completed the top three in the FR 2.0 standings in a season in which eight drivers won races, among them Aurélien Panis – the son of former F1 driver Olivier – and a total of 14 racers climbed on to the podium.
Not surprisingly, Nyck de Vries racked up the most wins (five), the most pole positions (six), the most podium finishes (ten), the most top-ten finishes (13) and the highest number of fastest race laps (five). The Dutch driver also headed the field on 33 percent of laps across the season.
Thanks to the €500,000 grant awarded by Renault Sport Technologies, Nyck de Vries will be lining up on next season’s Formula Renault 3.5 Series grid for DAMS, the two-time reigning team champions in the category.
