Benoît Vaillant eyes Clio R3T European Trophy glory
The winner of the Clio R3T European Trophy France with four wins in six rounds, Benoît Vaillant will be one of the frontrunners for the title decider at January’s Rallye Monte-Carlo, a challenge the French driver is relishing.
How did the 2015 season go for you ?
“We came face to face with the Renault Clio R3T for the first time at the start of the year, which turned out to be one of the best of my career, with four wins and two second places and a place on the overall podium at the Rallye de Bretagne too. Those performances helped us win the Clio R3T European Trophy France and qualify for the final at the Rallye Monte-Carlo.”
What are your objectives at the Rallye Monte-Carlo ?
“I can’t wait for it and I’m focused on it already. I’m going to work hard in both a physical and mental sense because that’s what I was lacking at the Tour de Corse. I hope we’ll get some snow in my home region (Picardy) so that we can get a test session organised. My initial aim will be to make the finish line and to fight it out for the WRC 3 drive offered by Renault Sport.”
What does the Rallye Monte-Carlo mean to you ?
“It’s a legendary event. The Monte-Carlo is the most high-profile rally in France, and with the snow, ice and asphalt, it’s not your average event either. The Monte-Carlo is one of best events in the world championship and it’s a privilege for an amateur like me to be taking part in it.”
