A year of confirmation for Renault Clio R3T

The spearhead of Renault Sport Technologies’ customer racing range, Renault Clio R3T confirmed itself as one of the leading cars in the two-wheel drive category. Boasting remarkable reliability, Clio R3T produced a series of fine performances throughout the season, in both the Clio R3T European Trophy and in various other events around the world. Since its launch in September 2014, Clio R3T has secured some 58 category wins.

WRC 3 : ANDREA CRUGNOLA AND CLIO R3T FINISH JUST SHY OF THE PODIUM

After making its competitive debut in 2014, Renault Clio R3T took part in its first full WRC programme this season, with a semi-works entry in the WRC 3. Driven by Andrea Crugnola and Michele Ferrara, Clio R3T recorded some impressive performances. In winning in Germany, finishing as runner-up in Sardinia and Corsica, it demonstrated its qualities on gravel and tarmac, combining reliability with versatility. Clio R3T also showed it had real speed, winning almost 30% of the stages in the category. In contention for the title for long periods, Andrea Crugnola ended up finishing fourth overall in the WRC 3. Meanwhile, Team Renault Sport Technologies grabbed a podium place in the teams’ standings, which augurs well for a promising 2016 season, with the support of the winning Clio R3T European Trophy crew, which will be known after the upcoming Rally Monte-Carlo.

CLIO R3T EUROPEAN TROPHY : TWELVE CREWS BATTLE FOR ONE WRC 3 DRIVE

With some five areas competing at the same time, the Clio R3T European Trophy served up a sumptuous spread of epic battles throughout the rally season. The crews that opted to compete in Clio R3T were able to take part in legendary rallies in places like Tour de Corse, Ypres, Sanremo and Le Valais rallies. In each of the areas (France, Alps, Italy, Iberia and International), the competitors tested themselves against one another in the hope of qualifying for the 2016 Rallye Monte-Carlo finale. Next January, twelve crews will have the opportunity to fight it out in Clio R3Ts to try and win a six-event WRC 3 programme and succeed Andrea Crugnola : Eric Filippi, Alberto Monarri, Alain Pyrame, Benoit Boulanger, Benoît Vaillant, Marvin Sorin, Jean-Sébastien Vigion, Luca Rossetti, Ivan Ferrarotti, Michaël Burri, Olivier Courtois and Fran Cima.

CLIO R3T STANDS OUT IN THE FRENCH RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Having made its official competitive debut in the French Rally Championship in 2014, it is in this category that Clio R3T enjoyed its most impressive performances this season. Driven by Manu Guigou, the car claimed five wins from seven rounds in the two-wheel drive category, winning over 70% of the stages contested. Fourth overall in the French Championship, Manu Guigou ended the season in first place in the two-wheel drive category, in addition be finishing as runner-up in the Michelin Trophy.

SUCCESS ALL AROUND THE WORLD

Since its first competitive outing, Renault Clio R3T has established itself as one of the leading cars in the two-wheel drive category. The latest model to roll out of Renault Sport Technologies’ Customer Racing workshops has enjoyed many victories since its works debut at the 2014 Rallye Mont Blanc, notching up 58 category wins. It has prevailed at legendary events such as Rallye du Var, Rallye du Condroz, Rallye du Valais, Rallye de Nouvelle-Calédonie, Critérium des Cévennes, Rally Sanremo, Croatia Rally, etc. The car has also won in other national championship events, from Poland to Chile, and taking in the likes of the Czech Republic, Lebanon and Germany.
