The Renault Sport Trophy and Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 returned to action together at Circuit Paul Ricard. In the south of France, the spectators enjoyed splendid duels and battles in the two categories that experienced turning points in the course of their season. The fans were also able to take part in the activities on off in the village alongside the Renault display. On the track, Lando Norris and Harrison Scott continued their strong form in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 as did Pieter Schothorst in the Renault Sport Trophy.

Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 : first title for Norris

After dominating the collective tests, Lando Norris (Josef Kaufmann Racing) made an error, forcing him to return to the pits during qualifying. Harrison Scott (AVF by Adrián Vallés) seized the opportunity to take the pole and victory ahead of fellow Brits Lando Norris and Will Palmer (R-ace GP), who claimed his first podium result. On Sunday, Lando Norris answered back with an authoritative win ahead of Max Defourny (R-ace GP) and Dorian Boccolacci (Tech 1 Racing).

With this success, Lando Norris increased his lead in the general classification in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, while also wrapping up rookie of the year honours. Only Max Defourny, Harrison Scott and Dorian Boccolacci can still deny him the title.

Renault Sport Trophy : as close as ever

On Friday, Pieter Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) set the tone, posting the best time in all three collective tests. Yet, it was David Fumanelli (Oregon Team) who did the business in qualifying. In AM, Fran Rueda (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) took his maiden pole position.

Outmanoeuvred when the lights went, the Spaniard still scored maximum points in the intermediate classification of the Endurance race after the puncture suffered by Fabian Schiller (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0). His team mate, Tanart Sathienthirakul just had to bring the car to the line for the duo’s first victory ahead of Jeroen Schothorst – Pieter Schothorst and Miguel Ramos – Mike Verschuur (Equipe Verschuur).

In the Sprint races, Fredrik Blomstedt (R-ace GP) made the most of carrying less ballast than Fran Rueda and Fabian Schiller to take the win in front of the Spaniard, who is the new leader in the AM category. In the PRO class, Pieter Schothorst surprised David Fumanelli at the start before pulling away and moving to the sharp end of the general classification. Nelson Panciatici (Duqueine Engineering) scored the first top three result for his team in the Renault Sport Trophy.
